POST-TENSION DECKS

Post-tension slab contractor in South Florida — longer spans up to 35+ feet, thinner decks, and superior crack control for parking structures, residential towers, and commercial buildings.

ABOUT POST-TENSION

Post-tensioned concrete lets engineers push spans farther, reduce slab depth, and control cracking in ways that conventional mild-steel reinforcement cannot match. By stressing high-strength steel tendons after the concrete reaches its initial strength, a PT slab carries load more efficiently — which means fewer columns, thinner floors, and less concrete volume per square foot. For parking garages, residential towers, and office buildings across South Florida, this translates directly into lower structural cost and more usable space. Vertex Structures handles PT deck construction from tendon layout through final stressing. Our crews place and profile unbonded monostrand tendons per the post-tension engineer's drawings, coordinate cable paths around MEP sleeves and blockouts, and verify chair heights to maintain the designed tendon drape. After concrete placement at typical strengths of 4,000–5,500 PSI, we stress each tendon to the specified force and record elongation measurements to confirm that friction losses and seating are within ACI 423 tolerances. Every stressing operation is documented and submitted to the engineer of record. We have built PT decks for projects in Miami-Dade, Broward County, and Palm Beach County — from 5-level parking structures with 36-foot column-free bays to 20+ story residential buildings where reducing floor-to-floor height by even two inches saved significant material cost on the exterior envelope. If your project can benefit from longer spans or a thinner structural section, post-tensioning is worth evaluating, and our team can help the design team assess the right system early.
