CORAL SPRINGS DISTRIBUTION CENTER

A 120,000 sq ft distribution facility built on a fast-track schedule with insulated tilt panels and laser-screeded floors designed for heavy forklift traffic.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Coral Springs Distribution Center was a fast-track project driven by a firm tenant move-in date that left no room for schedule slip. The 120,000 square foot facility required insulated tilt-up wall panels — a sandwich design with two inches of rigid insulation between concrete wythes — to maintain climate control for temperature-sensitive goods. We cast and erected 54 panels over a six-week period, coordinating panel sequencing so the roofing contractor could start enclosing the building while erection continued on the remaining elevations. The floor slab was the most demanding element of this project. The tenant operates a fleet of sit-down forklifts running 16-hour shifts, so the slab needed to handle constant wheeled traffic without joint deterioration. We placed 120,000 square feet of six-inch reinforced slab with laser screed equipment, hitting a minimum FF35/FL25 flatness specification across the entire floor. Joints were saw-cut at 15-foot spacing and filled with semi-rigid epoxy to reduce spalling under forklift wheels. From groundbreaking to certificate of occupancy, the project ran 14 weeks. Our concrete scope — foundations, tilt panels, elevated dock slabs, and interior flatwork — accounted for roughly 2,400 cubic yards placed across 22 separate pours. The tenant took possession two weeks ahead of their lease commencement date.
