BOCA RATON LOGISTICS HUB
An 85,000 sq ft logistics facility with FF50+ precision floors for automated material handling and 12 dock-height loading bays.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Boca Raton Logistics Hub was built to support automated sorting and material handling systems that demand floor flatness well beyond standard warehouse specifications. The 85,000 square foot facility required a minimum floor flatness of FF50/FL30 across the main operations area — a tolerance that leaves very little room for error during placement and finishing. We used laser screed equipment for the initial strike-off, followed by highway straightedges and pan finishing to hit the specified numbers. Third-party Dipstick testing confirmed we exceeded the spec, averaging FF55 across the floor. The building includes 12 dock-height loading bays along the rear elevation, each with a reinforced approach apron designed to handle repeated impact from trailer connections. The dock slabs sit 48 inches above the drive apron grade, with cast-in-place dock walls and a depressed truck court slab that required separate forming and placement from the main floor. We poured the dock area in two phases — walls and aprons first, then the elevated floor slab — to ensure proper curing time on the walls before loading them with the slab weight. Tilt-up panels enclosed the facility, with 32 panels averaging 32 feet in height erected over a 12-day period. The fast turnaround on this project was driven by the owner's equipment installation timeline — the automated conveyor and sorting systems required a weathertight building before installation could begin. Our concrete scope, totaling approximately 1,900 cubic yards, was completed in nine weeks from first foundation pour to final slab placement.
